Treble Bass & Beer.jpg

Treble Bass & Beer

Friday, October 11, 7:30pm - 9:30pm

Depart to a concert experience where colorful extremes are unified in expressive new ways. Join us as we partner with Original Gravity Concert Series to showcase the music of the Departure Duo. Praised for their "nuance and depth" and their ability to evoke a "kaleidoscope of colors and the panoply of resonances a listener expects from a larger chamber ensemble" (Cashman Kerr Prince, Boston Musical Intelligencer), this animated "high low" duo is comprised of soprano, Nina Guo, and double bassist, Edward Kass.

With subjects as whimsical as emojis and as grounded as affirmations of “Yes” this program features works commissioned by the Departure Duo as part of their 30 by '30 project, a commitment to the creation of an undeniable body of repertoire of 30 hours by 2030 of diverse musical voices and styles that can be shared across the world.

THE PROGRAM:
John Aylward - Tiergarten (2018)*
Joseph Bozich - Two Wilde Poems (2018)*
Amy Beth Kirsten - yes I said yes I will Yes (2012)
Emily Koh - emojicons (2018)*
John Liberatore - Plain Truths from Timothy Dexter (2012)

Each of the five works will be paired with one of our beers. With beers specially selected to heighten the listening experience, concert goers are invited to sip specific inspired by these new sounds.
