Originally from the Midwest, Dawn Nelson has spent the past four decades in Massachusetts. Most of this time she has lived in Jamaica Plain. She currently spends half of her time in J.P., and the other half in North Adams, MA, where she has had her studio for the past 12 years.
While Dawn has shown her work extensively throughout and beyond Massachusetts, her roots, in her adult life, have always been in Jamaica Plain. She was one of the earliest people involved with the beginning of neighborhood wide version of Jamaica Plain Open Studios, and has exhibited in JPOS every year since. Many know her from her annual JPOS exhibit in the buildings next to the tot lot on Brewer Street. Others know Dawn as a middle school art teacher in Weston, MA, where she taught for over 27 years.
