Our Founders & Brewers

John Lincecum, Ph.D, Biochemist, and Nik Walther, accomplished Brewer, are committed to the Jamaica Plain community and are both deeply grateful for the history and ecology that make this part of Boston the home of craft brewing.

John is a home brewer of 25 years and a professional biochemist. He is a 15 year veteran of the Cambridge biotechnology industry whose research focused on discovering novel therapies for neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

Nik has been a professional brewer since 2008 working at three successful breweries of varying sizes: the Saint Arnold Brewing Company (Houston) at 25,000 bbls a year, the Chelsea Brewing Company (Brooklyn) at 2,500 bbls a year, and the Harpoon Brewery (Boston)  at 210,000 bbls a year. He has worked in every aspect of brewing from grain to glass.

Both John and Nik have long dreamed of brewing incredible beer and sharing it in a local taproom with friends and neighbors. The hard work and that dream have finally come to fruition with the realization of Turtle Swamp Brewing, officially opened in May 2017.
